SMARTPHONE ARCHIVE // 199 TOUCHSCREEN MODELS // VERIFIED SOURCES

Every era
had a touchscreen.

Explore touchscreen smartphone history from the original iPhone through modern iPhone, Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy A, Galaxy Z foldables, and selected Nokia touchscreen models. The Phones tab includes modern foldables (Galaxy Z Fold and Flip) but excludes feature phones, T9 and physical-keyboard devices, sliders, and legacy clamshell flip phones. Cards look for Creative Commons device-only images from Wikimedia Commons, preferring transparent PNG or WebP files with no people, hands, packaging, accessories, or surrounding objects. When no suitable image is available, the local smartphone silhouette remains in place.

How the smartphone archive counts

The archive includes only touchscreen smartphones. Manufacturer announcements and curated historical records remain primary, Wikipedia supplies current article facts, and estimates stay clearly labeled when no audited model total exists.

01

Touchscreen smartphones only

Modern foldables (Galaxy Z Fold and Flip) are included as touchscreen devices. Feature phones, T9 and physical-keyboard devices, sliders, and legacy clamshell flip phones are removed from this tab.

02

Sales sources are ranked

Manufacturer disclosures and model trackers are preferred. Wikipedia is a fallback, and family-wide or estimated numbers remain visibly labeled rather than presented as exact model sales.

03

Commons images, safe fallback

Visible phone cards search Wikimedia Commons for Creative Commons PNG or WebP files with transparent corners and device-only descriptions. Unsuitable or unavailable files fall back to the original local silhouettes.

DATA PROVENANCE

Sources & notes

The smartphone archive uses manufacturer and catalog sources as the primary sales layer, with Wikipedia refreshing article descriptions and years. Only touchscreen smartphones are included, along with modern foldables (Galaxy Z Fold and Flip); feature phones, keyboard devices, sliders, and legacy clamshell flip phones are excluded. Imagery comes from Wikimedia Commons when a suitable Creative Commons device-only file passes the site’s checks.

Article checks run on every load. Sales figures retain their named primary source and date; unavailable model-level totals remain undisclosed or clearly labeled estimates.
